My name is Marcel Skoumal and that guy in these photos should be me.

During some years I carried out chemistry research on the field of water pollutants, but I was never limited to it. I am indeed working on such a different area as Energy Storage at the Catalonia Institute of Energy Research. During my past research experience on water pollution by pharmaceuticals I never left other aspects neglected. As examples I learnt German and Russian language, and some quite decent website design skills by means of Content Management Systems (CMS).

External trade is an area I have explored, too. Gardening, one of my major hobbies, combined to my wide experience on chemistry has led me to develop interesting ideas on hydroponic and other soilless culture techniques, that I want to apply to my plants.

I am a very adaptable person who tries to grasp new concepts, ideas or techniques quickly and feels satisfied only when putting them in real practice and for real projects. I really enjoy trying to get things work better and I feel very well when actually managing it.

I speak some languages (such as the languages of this website, made by myself) but oddly enough not as a result of a planned study in order to have a good professional future, but because of friendship and for the pure pleasure of learning them and in order to defend myself when being abroad. Why Japanese, for instance? Well, when attending a summer school in Germany I met many Japanese people. They are very nice! And smart. We became friends and I just "had to" learn their language (and I should improve it!).

There is always something interesting to learn. Anywhere. And countless useful applications for it in business and daily life. Apart from my really interesting Research on Green Energy Storage techniques, during my leisure time I want to go on improving PHP/MySQL programming, ideal for the design of online dictionaries and other applications.
